Cattle mooing, auctioneers calling, horses trotting – it all happens at the Roma Saleyards – the largest cattle selling centre in Australia, with over 400,000 cattle passing through a year.
Free and opened every day from 8am to 5pm enjoy the state-of-the-art interpretive centre telling the story of the cattle industry. Here, in the curved entry become immersed in a cattle mustering scene before emerging to learn more about the industry through displays, videos and touch screens.
On Tuesday’s regular sale days from 8am until 11am retired cattlemen volunteer their time to answer visitors’ questions about the saleyards and, more broadly, the cattle industry. Boobook’s town tour also includes a trip to the Saleyards.
